Traditional and contemporary table lamps
Svenskt Tenn has a wide range of table lamps for the hall and living room as well as for the bedroom and study. You can decorate with multiple table lamps and lighting points at different levels in the room, and adjust the light according to the occasion and the season.
Traditional and contemporary table lamps can be placed on tables, shelves and by a window, for a warm and cosy room interior. Svenskt Tenn has many different types of table lamps in brass, pewter, glass and wood. Select a table lamp in brass for a warmer, golden tone or create a cool feeling with silver tones and a table lamp in nickel-plated brass. Another way to vary the decorating is by replacing lampshades on your table lamps. For a personal touch, place a shade in your favourite colour on the table lamp or choose a print and shape to create a contrast to a more traditional table lamp. A lampshade in one of Svenskt Tenn’s well-known, classic prints brings a nice decorative touch to your home.
Table lamps and sketches by Josef Frank
Josef Frank, who was Austrian and lived in Vienna, had previously designed table lamps and other fixtures for the interior design company Haus & Garten, which he ran together with architecture colleague Oskar Wlach. When he later moved to Sweden, in 1933, he took some of his earlier sketches of lighting with him. In the 1934 exhibition at Liljevalchs art gallery, the Svenskt Tenn range was primarily represented by Josef Frank’s furniture and fixtures – among others, Table lamp 1819, which remains in Svenskt Tenn’s lighting range today.
Throughout the years, Josef Frank designed many different lamp models for Svenskt Tenn and among these are several table lamps. He created a unique lampshade for each lamp. Several of his drawings are preserved in the archive, along with some hand-drawn product catalogues with different models.
