Sofia Vusir Jansson’s Anemone Wreath
The floral wreath is a timeless decoration dating far back in time. Sofia Vusir Jansson’s interpretation was inspired by Estrid Ericson’s famous table settings and floral wreaths – an elegant balance between the visually beautiful and the symbolically meaningful.
The wreath as a symbol
Sofia has always been fascinated by the wreath, not only for its shape, but also for what it stands for.
“The wreath represents eternity, happiness and rebirth. It is close to poetry for me, and evokes so many feelings, thoughts and memories. This is maybe because we often tie wreaths on holidays and in connection with life’s important moments. This is exactly what makes the wreath so versatile and meaningful, regardless of whether it is used in a table setting, hung on a wall or door, used as a chandelier or worn in the hair.”

In creating the wreath, Sofia was inspired by Estrid Ericson’s way of setting and decorating a table. One of her favourite creations is a round table set for 20 people, with flowers forming a large wreath and candles filling the space in the middle of them.
“The round table’s shape is inclusive, and together with the wreath it becomes an expression of equality. It symbolises that everyone at the table is equally important. That’s how I choose to look at it and therefore it’s become extra beautiful.”
Sofia stresses the wreath’s practical advantages as a table decoration. Since it is low, it doesn’t block the guests’ view. The wreath also serves as a basis for the table setting as it sets the tone and conveys the feeling and mood to be shared.
“As a table decoration, the wreath is ideal because it doesn’t block the guests’ view. It serves as a basis for the table setting – a form that can be developed and complemented in many ways.”
The anemone that adorns the flower wreath is Sofia’s mother’s favourite flower.
“This year’s flower is dedicated to my mother, who has always been a role model when it comes to setting the table – with ironed tablecloths, a padded table cover, and polished silver cutlery neatly tucked into home-sewn pouches. Her attention to detail and how she reflected the seasons and holidays in the table setting is something I will forever carry with me.”
