The pewter lion was designed in 1927 and is still produced today with the same moulds used in the 1920s.
Graduation gift – Decorative items in pewter
For the student or graduate, a personalised gift for the home is something to have for life. The lion, by artist and designer Anna Petrus, is a timeless classic that can be found on several pewter items in Svenskt Tenn’s range. This work of art was designed in 1927 and is still produced today with the same moulds used in the 1920s. It’s an outstanding gift for anyone who appreciates craftsmanship and history.

Christening gift – A pewter box
Some pewter items, such as the brass-edged heart or the heart with a lid, can be engraved with a greeting, name and date to make them more personal. These hearts were designed by Svenskt Tenn’s founder Estrid Ericson, who liked the idea of giving a heart to a loved one. The boxes and other containers in Svenskt Tenn’s range are both beautiful and useful, and great to give as, for example, christening gifts or birthday presents.
The little candle holder in the shape of a turtle makes a great christening gift, designed by Theresa Traore Dahlberg for Svenskt Tenn.
Wedding gift – Practical items in pewter
An item that is both beautiful and useful can be the perfect personal gift for the bride and groom. Designer Björn Trägårdh designed the classic fish-shaped schnapps or brandy flask based on a model by Estrid Ericson.
It was after studying Peruvian ceramics from the late Chimu period (1150-1460) at the Ethnographic Museum in Stockholm that Estrid Ericson was inspired in the 1920s to create the original pewter schnapps flask. She created a fish, intended to lie on a large pewter dish surrounded by ice cubes. Björn Trägårdh designed this slightly simplified version around 1929-1930.

Birthday present – Pewter jewellery
You can never go wrong by giving a timeless piece of jewellery, especially on a birthday or special occasion. Estrid Ericson bought the original Etruscan pewter necklace in an antique shop in Rome in 1934. She had the beautiful shape of the necklace modelled and started making it in gilded pewter in the 1940s. Since then, it has become one of Svenskt Tenn’s most classic pieces of jewellery.
