Elefant Fabric
The classic Elefant (Elephant) print is almost synonymous with Svenskt Tenn. Designed by the company’s founder Estrid Ericson in the 1930s, it is today available both as a linen fabric and on interior items in a range of colours.
About the print
Estrid Ericson designed many jewellery and pewter pieces during her career, but she created only one fabric print. She came across the inspiration during one of her travels, when she found a piece of elephant-patterned African fabric at a Parisian flea market.
Printing the Elefant fabric
Estrid Ericson's Elefant pattern is meticulously crafted using the rotary printing technique — an intricate method that demands precision and artisanal skill.
