Textile Aralia
The Aristidia Fabric
The Aristidia print features motifs reminiscent of marine life like starfish and seaweed. It is one of Josef Frank’s earliest print patterns, created in the 1920s for his own company Haus & Garten in Vienna.
About the print
The inspiration for the Aristidia print is said to come from the town of Falsterbo on the Swedish south coast. A seaside resort where Josef Frank often spent summers with his wife, Anna Frank.
Printing the Aristidia fabric
Josef Frank’s Aristidia pattern is meticulously crafted using the screen printing technique — an intricate method that demands precision and artisanal skill.
