Colour and shape
Decorate with contrasts
Mixing different materials was a typical feature of Josef Frank’s design, as can be seen in many of the pieces of furniture in Svenskt Tenn’s range. In Sideboard ‟2137”, the white-lacquered frame meets the walnut top and fitting mounts, as well as Josef Frank’s classic, acorn -shaped brass hinges. The table was designed during the second half of the 1950s, and its irregular front imbues the design with excitement and variation.
This type of sideboard was designed by Josef Frank as early as his time at Haus und Garten in Vienna in the 1920s. Among other things, similar pieces of furniture are on display at Haus Beer in Vienna. A variant of the sideboard was also commissioned as a specially designed piece for the home of General Consul Svedelius in Brazil.
