Chair 1179
Chair P5
The colourful P5 Chair features a perforated back with turned spindles, giving it a light and airy appearance. The chair features several design elements that are classic and characteristic of Josef Frank's chair design, and the original sketch has been preserved in Svenskt Tenn’s archive for decades.
Josef Frank’s bentwood chairs
Josef Frank designed several bentwood chairs in the late 1920s, some of which were produced for Thonet-Mundus AG in Vienna. The bentwood P4 chair’s original sketch has been preserved in Svenskt Tenn’s archive.
Josef Frank“I myself never sit on a chair
that is designed for a single position. I want to be able to sit in different ways on different occasions and at different times of the day.”
How the P5 Chair is made
Chair P5 is manufactured at Gemla Fabrikers AB, Sweden’s oldest furniture factory, located at the small town of Diö in Småland.
